Burton Trout Hatchery is located in Rabun County on Moccasin Creek next to Lake Burton and Moccasin Creek State Park. The hatchery is located approximately 20 miles north of Clarkesville on Georgia Highway 197 and is one of four trout hatcheries in the state. Burton Hatchery provides stocking support for Georgia trout streams and public waters.
After a two-year renovation, the hatchery has a new trout production building, office building, residence, warehouse, and a climate-controlled feed storage building. Another welcome addition was an oxygen injection system that will ease the stress on trout during the summer. Other renovation improvements include a new dam/water intake and a repaved parking lots and boat ramp. More about trout fishing at https://georgiawildlife.com/Fishing/Trout.
