Second Day of Bear Season for the Central Georgia Bear Zone Confirmed: By regulation, if fewer than 6 female bears are killed by hunters during the December season (Sat. Dec. 21), the 1st Saturday after January 1 is open to further bear hunting. After the Dec. 21 hunt, 2 female bears were harvested. This means that hunters in Bibb, Bleckley, Houston, and Twiggs Counties will have a second day of bear season on Sat. Jan. 4, 2025. Bears must be checked and tagged at the Oaky Woods WMA check station from 12 noon through 9 p.m. on the day of the hunt. Harvested bears must be reported via Georgia Game Check (online, on the app, or by phone). Hunting with dogs is prohibited.
